The Opportunity We are seeking a Project Engineer Mechanical to join our team in Wellington, supporting the successful delivery of a complex infrastructure project. In this role, you will coordinate and oversee the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems including thermal drying equipment, conveyors, pumps, pipework, and associated process plant.  You will play a key role in ensuring all mechanical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications while managing interfaces across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to achieve seamless project execution. What We Are Looking For We’re looking for a motivated and capable mechanical engineer who thrives in a site-based delivery environment and enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams. You will bring: * A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering  * 3–7 years’ experience in mechanical construction or infrastructure projects  * Experience in installation of mechanical plant such as pumps, piping, or process systems  * Strong understanding of commissioning and testing processes  * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications  * A strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance  Highly regarded: * Experience in water, wastewater, or process plant projects  * Exposure to multi-disciplinary coordination across mechanical, civil, and electrical systems  * Experience with procurement, subcontractor management, and OEM/vendor coordination  * Involvement in commissioning and start-up of process systems  * Opportunity for career growth with structured frameworks and a supportive, inclusive team What We Offer * Competitive salary and employee benefits * A valued and respected position within an experienced team * The opportunity to work for a major ASX-listed company  About Energy & Utilities Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is an integrated trans-Tasman team providing services and solutions that connect communities to essential infrastructure.
