POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer position involves leading projects in the range of $50,000 to $5 million total installed cost, and managing a CAPEX budget of $5MMUSD/yr. The job will involve a wide range of projects that include expansions, modifications, and upgrades to the site’s production plant and site infrastructure and facilities.
The Project Engineer role requires scope development, coordination with outside engineering firms and follow the project through the construction phase. During project execution, the project engineer will interact with the plant leader, operations, technical staff, and construction team for a successful completion of the project.
Our company has contracts with 2 engineering firms to provide civil, electrical, instrument, pressure vessel, and piping design. The engineering firms also provide FEL1, FEL2, and FEL3 estimates, as needed. Project’s cost typically between $10 thousand - $1 million but could be larger. Expansion projects could be larger up to $15 million (usually/maybe every 5 years planned) (considered Capital projects).
When a problem/need exists in the plant, the project engineer will identify, with the production/maintenance teams, the scope to resolve the problem. The project engineer will provide a preliminary design and cost basis to the engineering firm. The project engineer will work with the engineering firm to finalize design, issue construction drawings, install the project in the plant, train the operators on the project, and complete the MOC. If an air or water permit is required, the project engineer coordinates the permitting with the EHS department.
Additionally, the role also includes maintaining a 5-year project list. This list will be updated annually.
