Description
French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Municipal department in Newark, NJ.  Responsibilities * Support the planning, design, and execution of municipal infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, drainage systems, water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, and capital improvement programs  * Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and construction documents in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations  * Develop plans, profiles, and details using design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D  * Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and other disciplines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget  * Interface with municipal clients, regulatory agencies, and utility providers to support project approvals and permitting efforts  * Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals during the construction phase  * Provide construction support services, including responding to field inquiries and performing site visits as needed  * Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and coordination meetings  * Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and project budgets  * Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and agency requirements  * Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field  * 4–8 years of relevant experience in municipal engineering or public infrastructure projects  * Professional Engineer (PE) license required  * Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite  * Strong understanding of municipal design standards and permitting processes  * Excellent written and verbal communication skills  * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines  * Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed  Benefits   We understand that a fulfilling career is about more than just the work you do – it’s about feeling secure in your health, confident in your financial future, and balanced in your personal and professional life.
