Job Description

The Civil Engineer has the responsibility to plan, design, coordinate and supervise the construction and maintenance of civil engineering projects and infrastructure.

Daily tasks include:

  • Planning, designing and overseeing civil and marine infrastructure projects, including wharves, jetties, dredging works, coastal structures and associated civil works.
  • Preparing engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, calculations and cost estimates in accordance with Australian Standards and project requirements.
  • Conducting engineering investigations, site assessments and feasibility studies to determine project requirements and construction methodologies.
  • Managing project delivery activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, contractor coordination and progress monitoring.
  • Performing site inspections to ensure construction works comply with engineering specifications, safety requirements, environmental regulations and quality standards.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and regulatory authorities to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Civil Engineer or closely related occupation.

Annual salary: $110,000 - $120,000 plus superannuation (38 hours per week)

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Engineer to support our engineering team in delivering high-quality technical solutions.

About the Role

This is a full-time position providing civil engineering support across our civil and structural projects. The successful candidate will assist with analysis, design development, reporting, and site-based inspections. You will play a key role in supporting the structural components of our civil works, including retaining structures, pavements, culverts, foundations, and concrete and steel elements used in subdivision and infrastructure construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist structural and civil engineers with modelling, analysis, and technical assessments for civil infrastructure works.
  • Perform structural analysis and calculations for foundations, retaining walls, culverts, concrete elements, steel components, and load-bearing structures.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering drawings, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Review civil and structural plans, specifications, and construction data to ensure compliance with Australian Standards.
  • Support the development and optimisation of civil and structural design solutions.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess workmanship, materials, and compliance with design and quality requirements.
  • Identify non-conformances and propose corrective actions.
  • Assist with project coordination by liaising with engineers, surveyors, contractors, and project managers.
  • Support R&D activities, testing, and investigations to improve engineering processes and project outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience or strong understanding of civil and structural engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of structural design principles used in civil works (e.g., concrete, steel, foundations, retaining systems).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, civil plans, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using CAD, modelling, or analysis software (advantageous).
  • Strong communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.

Pay: $120,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
