The Spare Parts Project Engineer provides engineering and technical assistance to shop personnel, Commercial Operations, Sales Engineers, and customers to develop the best possible solutions to aftermarket parts jobs within the boundaries of responsibility.
Responsible for providing technical interpretation of specifications, procedures, policies, and quality to concerned parties for the manufacture of parts, repair, and service activities as appropriate.
The engineer works closely with the BOM technician to answer all Bill of Material and item creation/identification related questions. He/She coordinates technical support through other Flowserve AMSS engineering support functions when required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s, preferably master’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering discipline
  • 2-3 years relevant experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Oil & Gas industry, project engineering, 3D design, hydraulic engineering, pressure vessels, instrumentation, and interpreting customer specifications
  • General knowledge of metallurgical requirements & applications
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • General knowledge of foundry processes
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and computer skills
  • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to focus on long-term goals and to identify and produce deliverables aligned with business objectives
  • Effective communication skills with Customers, Sales, Operations and Engineering
  • Flexible concerning working hours & willing to travel for planned visits or to provide on-site support to the QRC operations (up to 40%)
  • Work-experience in multi culture teams
  • Strong knowledge of internal and international practices & standards
  • Several years of experience in design and development
  • Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) methodology understanding. Experience in LEAN or Six Sigma preferred
  • Design for Manufacture (DFM) methodology
  • Highly capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in engineering & design software, (preferably SolidWorks, Windchill PLM)

Responsibilities
  • Drive, control, and take ownership of engineering activities
  • Manage and support 3D model and drawing requests
  • Provides engineering and technical support for manufacturing sites
  • Have strong collaboration with the project team
  • Reviews order requirements and collaborates with industrial technicians to develop high level scope of work for manufacturing sites jobs when required
  • Work with Design Engineers to promptly investigate & resolve shop floor problems relating to design or quality issues; record & report findings, make corrections & help develop and implement permanent, cost-effective solutions
  • Provide support through DocTrack requests to identify parts, drawings, Bill of Materials, shopfloor and customer documents
  • Reviews complete technical documentation package to validate product performance against customer requirements and suggests modifications where required
  • Generates bills of material and manufacturing drawings for engineered products
  • Delegate, provide guidance and instructions to GTEC
  • Prepares and releases technical job documentation. Develops and implements engineering best practices and Flowserve standards such as welding procedures, bolt torque, materials, hydro test, etc.
  • Reviews new standards and identifies gaps
  • Accountable for documenting and communicating modifications initiated by the PMC/QRC per the applicable procedures and systems.
  • Assist in Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) efforts
  • Collaborate with BU’s and GTEC Engineers to improve Customer Satisfaction and Employee Engagement
