POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join the SyBridge Digital Solutions Engineering team at our Chicago, Illinois headquarters. This individual will be the end-to-end owner of technical application requirements for injection molding applications, coordinating with cross-functional teams to conduct thorough technical part reviews and perform supplier capability assessments that support efficient execution of downstream production. This role interfaces with customers, external manufacturing partners, and cross-functional teams that include Sales and Supply Chain to perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis, ensure accurate manufacturing cost estimation and support production processes for prototype and high-volume injection molding applications.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Subject matter expertise in Injection Molding part design
  • Strong track record of managing Injection Molding projects from DFM review through production kickoff
  • Proficiency in understanding part drawing specifications, including complex GD&T and critical feature recognition
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment and communicating with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient with Google G Suite apps, Microsoft Office, or related software

PREFERRED KEY SKILLS/ABILITIES (NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT THE JOB)

  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / Siemens NX
  • Experience with moldflow software
  • Experience in managing or participating in a PPAP
  • Experience with programming, SQL / Java
  • Experience working at an injection molding facility
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum 3 years experience in part design and/or project management in Injection Molding
Responsibilities
  • AnalyzeCAD data, 2D drawings, BOMs and other technical documents to evaluate scope of work and manufacturability for a given project
  • Take the lead on advising customers on manufacturability and operate as a critical technical resource for the Sales team
  • Perform live design reviews with customers by reviewing CAD in customer meetings
  • Advise on how to bring costs down
  • Coordinate on quality expectations and inspection plans
  • Support our Sales team on technical issues
  • Troubleshoot in-process manufacturing and part design issues
  • Support both quick-turn and high-volume molding applications
  • Support internal continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve our standard operating procedures
