Job Description Role purpose GENERAL Drive innovation in site’s formulation fill & pack (FF&P) asset and infrastructure by leading complex, engineering capital projects (CapEx) from concept to completion. Project Engineer will be part of a dynamic team where he'll shape the future of sustainable agriculture through cutting-edge facility designs, equipment installations and full lifecycle ownership of large-scale engineering projects across Karachi site. CAPITAL EXPENDITURE (CapEX) Owner of the CapEx process from planning to capitalization stages. Ensure delivery of capital projects in line with strategic drivers, within agreed timelines and budget, and according to company’s EPP governance framework. Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making on capital investments and equipment replacements. Working with a site engineering manager to shape project scope. This often requires holding ambiguity before a project scope is being finalized in a Terms of Reference. Identifying, specifying and monitoring the implementation of appropriate standards for engineering for design, procurement and construction to ensure compliance with company policy, local regulations and assets that are fit for purpose. Through close liaison with regional technical resources/SMEs, principal engineers, and key stakeholders, ensure that capital projects use fit-for-purpose engineering solutions to meet Syngenta HSE and business requirements. Producing an engineering definition package, fully describing the technical, process and operational requirements of the asset to be built and subsequently developing a detailed design which meets project success criteria. Main point of contact for Regional and functional teams for all project related activities. Preparing project progress report and applying earned value management techniques to compare the planned/estimated time and cost with actual. HEALTH, SAFETY,ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY SUPPORT Champion a zero-incident safety culture within the engineering department and across the plant. Ensure strict adherence to all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, quality standards and Syngenta's internal policies. Lead by example in promoting safe work practices and fostering a safety-first mindset among all team members. Accountabilities Develop comprehensive project scope, design, execution and communication strategies. Drive risk management and mitigation strategies, Identify and secure the needed resources, Lead Project activities across the Karachi site. Lead the capex planning phase and align/manage stakeholders expectations accordingly. Estimating, executing and tracking costs and physical progress to ensure project delivery meets challenging time constraints and within established cost, quality and safety parameters. Organizing and managing FAT activities (Planning, documenting readiness & quality, resourcing, listing to-dos, validating). Having sense of urgency and able to flag on potential risks to the people and assets. To bring the cost efficiencies by identifying key areas of improvement including synergic consideration. Liaison with other engineering trades (Maintenance & Utilities) for compliance with specified project specifications and schedules. Key contact for project contractors on site, daily project tasks monitoring and ensure timely reporting of KPIs and related project documentation. Manage project contractors to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety act. Supporting commissioning team (Planning, troubleshooting, improving/optimizing, changing) and production team for Recipe creation. Managing handover to site maintenance team & Production team. Initiation of Purchase Requisitions (PR) based on viable execution plan. Supervision of execution phases and identifying areas of improvement and narrowing gap in project schedules; through overlapping activities, identifying critical activities and prioritizing activities. Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Simultaneous, multiple project areas ownership over site pertaining to CapEx. Ensure all manuals and drawings are updated as per project. Cost conscious and can work in tight budget limitations by keeping good working standards. Provide support to the maintenance team, as and when required. Qualifications Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics. Track record of delivering complex engineering projects with the exposure in manufacturing environment for the Agrochemical, Pharma, Chemical or process industry. Knowledge of the PMI Methodology. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred. Computer proficiency in SAP Ariba, Smartsheet, Power BI, AutoCAD and MS Office are a must. Basic understanding of engineering economics and finance. At least 6 years of hands on experience of construction, MEP, and machinery related capital projects in a process industry with exposure to HSE related to chemical plants.
