QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required
  • Applicants need to be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (“EGBC”) as this will be a condition of employment. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, technical development, or strategic planning in an industrial or operational setting
  • Experience with capital project development, including scoping, estimating, scheduling, and risk management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including solid facilitation skills. Complete competency with the MS Office suite, including MS Project and Visio

ROLE OVERVIEW

Teck is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team at our Trail Operations, a large, integrated, multi-metals smelting and refining complex. Reporting to a Superintendent, the Project Engineer offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Trail’s long-term success through the development, evaluation, and implementation of strategic initiatives that enhance operational value and sustainability. We’re looking for someone with a growth mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering studies and strategic projects across Trail Operations, embedding value engineering and ensuring stakeholder alignment within a
  • Apply analytical and engineering expertise to evaluate flowsheet modifications, conduct risk assessments, and support change management and operational readiness
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement to maximize project value
  • Collect and analyze data to develop business cases and economic models that support strategic initiatives, including critical minerals production, decarbonization and feed strategy integration
  • Collaborate effectively with Metallurgy & Technology, Business Planning, Operations, Projects, Finance, and other local and corporate teams
  • Oversee project execution to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule expectations, applying full lifecycle project management principles.
  • Maintain a strong field presence to support alignment, troubleshooting, and idea development
  • Engage with external stakeholders such as corporate teams and government bodies
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior management on initiative status, including progress, risks, and issues
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation using current and emerging technologies
