SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with experience in an Engineering role ideally with previous traffic management experience within the construction and/or infrastructure sector backed by a formal engineering qualification;
  • Knowledge of Victorian traffic management standards, VicRoads requirements and DoT Victoria protocols;
  • Experience with major infrastructure projects, preferably rail or transportation projects;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a range of internal customers and external suppliers;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to problem solve in dynamic construction environments;
  • Proven communicator who can lead, train and positively influence those around them;
  • Understanding of Victorian construction industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferably 4+ years’ onsite experience on infrastructure projects
  • Passionate about excellent health, safety, environmental and quality outcomes
  • Motivation to achieve value-for-money results.
Responsibilities

BMD is in a significant growth phase with a strong pipeline of projects in hand and as a result, we are looking for a Project Engineer to work on a major infrastructure upgrade in the heartland of Melbourne. This role is focused on the traffic scope covering the below duties;

  • Work with and manage a broad range of local subcontractors including local suppliers and traffic management subcontractors;
  • Plan and coordinate current and upcoming traffic related switches, road access and local stakeholder access;
  • Develop, assess and review traffic management related plans in accordance with VicRoads/DoT Victoria standards and requirements;
  • Interface with existing work areas and engineering teams across the MRPV project;
  • Communicate with DoT Victoria, VicRoads, local councils and other local stakeholders to plan and deploy changes related to overall project traffic changes and movements;
  • Develop and prepare weekly and monthly reporting including assistance with cost management activities;
  • Support and provide technical assistance to our supervisors and site teams;
  • Oversee and manage procurement, plant, equipment and resources within your scope of traffic management;
  • Conduct short- and medium-term planning for traffic management activities;
  • Ensure overall quality management including all necessary documentation and compliance with Victorian traffic management standards;
  • Work collaboratively with our internal stakeholders, subcontractors and local community groups to achieve a best for project and best for community outcome.
