Our New York City office is seeking a motivated Assistant Transportation Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for NYC and State agencies. We are seeking Assistant Transportation Engineers who will work on New York City infrastructure design projects at our office in Lower Manhattan. NV5’s New York City Office operates on a four-day work week. Responsibilities NV5’s New York City office is seeking a motivated Project Engineer (Transportation) to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for NYC and State agencies. Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasks Oversee production of design deliverables, including geometric design of intersections, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant elements; grading/drainage; signals/street lighting; MPT/staging; flood protection; and utility coordination/resolution Manage multiple projects simultaneously: track progress, prepare/submit progress reports, coordinate with NV5 Project Manager on schedules, budgets, and internal financials Serve as primary point of contact for client/agency communications, submissions, and stakeholder coordination (including NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA, NYC Parks, Private Utilities) Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination with in-house teams, subconsultants, and contractors to ensure constructability and contract document integration Participate in/lead public outreach, community board meetings, client/agency presentations, and project meetings Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders) Contribute to project planning, scope development, quantity/cost estimating, specifications, and quality control reviews Perform technical reviews of designs, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with agency standards, MUTCD, ADA, and best practices Monitor project risks, schedules, and budgets; recommend adjustments to meet deliverables Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college Detail-oriented with excellent communication and technical writing skills Worked previously with NYCDDC and NYCDOT preferred Proficiency in Autocad Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6 preferred PE certification preferred (but not required) EIT certification required 4–8 years of relevant experience in transportation/civil engineering, preferably on public-sector NYC infrastructure projects #LI-JC2 #INDHP For us, helping you grow your career at NV5 is good business. Compensation: $85,000.00 - $135,000.00 The pay range for this position in New York City is $85,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
