UGL Industrials have an opportunity for a qualified and suitably experienced Project Engineer for our Workshop located at Bennetts Green. This is a permanent role that will see you working on our clients Power Station assets across NSW. This position is Monday-Friday 38hours per week. This position is a residential role with no living away from home provisions or facility for non-local employees. Local applicants from the Newcastle region are strongly encouraged to apply. About the role The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and administrative coordination for the design, supply, installation and testing of the project. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the project is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client. Assist the Workshop and Project Managers with compliance to the documentation required under the UGL Management System Generate Inspection & Test Plan and Workshop Package for internal approval prior to releasing to Workshop. Review and plan the project with the Workshop and Project Managers to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client Provide a focal point for all technical based queries for associated subcontractors / suppliers Provide engineering advice for subcontractors / suppliers Overviews the entire project (within disciplines) from and engineering viewpoint while maintaining an open approach to all problems Liaise with the Client on Engineering and Design related items Ensure that “Free Issued” material supplied by the client is available in a timely manner to ensure adherence to the project schedule Liaise with the Superintendent and Supervisors to ensure schedule and forecasted positions are accurately updated accurately and frequently Generate and manage schedule, cost reporting, contract administration and effectively inform the Workshop Manager and Project Manager of contract position and recommendations for recover and improvement. Also informing key business partners (Commercial and Finance) as directed by the Workshop Manager and Project Manager Manage project scope and promptly detail any scope changes, schedule impacts and cost impacts that could affect the project, to ensure maximum return Monitor progress of all work, identify need for changes to workforce and or direct employees on alternative work when necessary, in conjunction with the Project Manager support Quality Manager/ Lead with Inspection and Test Plans and associated Project Specific Procedures Ensures that the contract requirements of the client are adhered to and that company procedures are followed Assist Workshop Manager and Project Manager with all procurement and purchases of goods and services and work closely with Procurement business partners Liaison with suppliers and subcontractors as directed by Workshop Manager and Project Manager Work closely with Superintends and Supervisors to identify risks and hazards involved in tasks and methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage Assist Workshop Manager and Project Manager in preparation of monthly reports and attend the monthly report meetings with the client Complete any administration tasks associated with direct or indirect reports Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements as per UGL procedures and Contract requirements Support the compiling and handover of work packs Support commissioning activities as required Undertake any ad hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Contract and Project Managers Required qualifications and education requirements Tertiary Engineering Qualification 3 years’ experience of Project Management in steel fabrication essential Basic knowledge in Microsoft Project or Primavera required. Basic knowledge in welding processes (GTAW, FCAW, SAW) required. Basic knowledge in AS 4458 and AS 3992 preferred.
