As a Project Engineer at Wasco, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of projects, ensuring the successful execution of design, fabrication, construction, installation and handover activities. You will work to meet project objectives, ensuring safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout. Your expertise will drive successful project outcomes that meet Wasco’s high standards of quality and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • More than 7 years of experience in a Project Engineer position within a construction/fabrication environment.
  • Ability to self-manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while working effectively in a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently build relationships with clients, colleagues, and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver assigned civil, structural, mechanical and piping construction tasks, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project execution plans, schedules and costs.
  • Monitor construction progress and report to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
  • Ensure site reports reflect accurate labour, equipment use, cost allocation and progress.
  • Identify and report delays, variations and scope growth, addressing claims and contractual obligations.
  • Source, quote, and requisition materials, ensuring proper delivery to site in compliance with project requirements.
  • Review, interpret and apply specifications, drawings, and plans, contributing to construction methodology and design improvements.
  • Oversee and issue relevant documentation to the project team.
  • Coordinate on-site engineering activities to ensure work meets plans, designs and specifications.
  • Resolve technical issues, seeking appropriate engineering support as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC and engineering compliance checks for work performed by the team, subcontractors, suppliers, and third parties.
