Responsibilities

At GFT, we’re building infrastructure that drives communities forward—and we want you to help lead the charge. As a Project Engineer specializing in wet utilities (sewers and watermains) with coordination experience in dry utilities (hydro, gas, telecom), you’ll play a pivotal role in the design, execution, and success of complex infrastructure projects.
This position is an opportunity to combine engineering expertise with cross-disciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be empowered to:

  • Lead utility relocation and installation design activities, particularly for wet utilities.
  • Coordinate utility impacts with hydro (transmission and distribution), telecom, and gas systems.
  • Prepare detailed and preliminary designs for sewers and watermains, including engineering calculations.
  • Collaborate across internal disciplines and external stakeholders to create integrated design solutions.
  • Ensure full compliance with project agreements, third-party utility and municipal standards, and applicable construction specifications.
  • Deliver accurate and timely submittals while balancing competing project priorities.
  • Conduct site inspections and generate detailed field reports to inform project decisions.
  • Recommend enhancements to existing utility infrastructure based on engineering evaluation.
  • Facilitate coordination with contractors to ensure efficient and cost-effective construction.
  • Participate in design and constructability workshops, bringing real-world insights to project planning.
  • Contribute to permitting processes, proposal development, and other project support tasks.
