Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

WSP is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on assignments of moderate size, scope, diversity and/or complexity for municipal or regional level governments
  • Develop Traffic or Construction Management Plans in support of major road reconstruction projects
  • Prepare form of tenders, quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates
  • Undertake utility coordination
  • Prepare property taking plans
  • Demonstrates sound written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and application skills
  • Sets up project meetings, takes meeting minutes, and maintains action item list
  • May be required to work on proposals
  • Develop project schedules both for design and construction using MS Project.
  • Ability to read, follow and interpret design standards from various sources including GDM, TAC, OTM and agency manuals
  • Applies sound engineering judgment when making decisions
  • Works well under pressure to meet project deadlines
  • May be rquired to provide technical guidance and direction to support staff, contractors, and/or vendors
  • Adheres to WSP internal Quality Management System
  • Prepare engineering drawings involving the planning, analysis and design of Municipal road and transportation projects.
  • Contribute to the cost effective, proper and timely production of engineering designs, that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards;
  • A good team player.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships;
  • Participates in annual performance reviews
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What you’ll bring to WSP :

  • University degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Registered with PEO as an EIT
  • Experienced in report and proposal writing;
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation and In Roads and other relevant software will set you apart from your peer group;
  • Experienced in project management on municipal road and/or transit design projects;
  • Experience within an engineering consulting environment is preferred;
  • Familiarity with municipal standards, TAC and OPS standards and guidelines will be an asset;
  • A valid driver’s license is required;
  • Ability to work in a team setting;
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
