Description:

SUMMARY

The Projects Engineering Manager (PEM) is responsible for various activities ranging from assisting the sales team on pursuits, system and network designs, overseeing and conducting electrical studies and reviewing/signing off on shop and as-built drawings all in alignment with the Company’s strategic plan and goals.
The role’s key objective is to ensure safe, code compliant high-quality designs while always being cognizant of not just cost implications but as well as logistical aspects.
The PEM is a professional with the ability to combine many skills such as technical analysis, understanding and navigation of codes and standards, a high technical acumen but also an “outside the box” mentality with innovative ideas to support complex problems. The PEM will also assist in creating a company culture while helping to Make Each Customer Experience Extraordinary. They are a strategic thinker and are driven to ensure the team supports the Projects and Service Teams in the fullest capacity to optimize TPGS’s goals, strategies, and objectives. The PEM always presents ways to improve the Company’s performance and inspires people to exceed their own expectations.

WHAT YOU NEED (REQUIREMENTS)

· 5+ years of experience in a related role
· PMP and/or P. Eng
· Technical proficiency (electrical equipment, engines, power, control systems, electrical generation & BESS)
· Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
· Excellent time, project, and stress management skills, with multi-tasking capability
· Excellent attention to detail, while working under tight deadlines
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Excellent negotiation skills
· A valid passport for travel purposes and ability to enter the US is required

Responsibilities:

· Able to read, interpret and understand technical specifications of various fuel generators, transfer switches and other associated equipment as well as Battery Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicle chargers
· Ability to correctly apply all pertinent codes and standards as required by the project technical specifications. The codes and standards include but are not limited to CEC, OESC, NFPA, TSSA, CSA C-282, CSA Z-32 and HONI TIR.
· Oversee and interpret electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit and harmonics performed by others in order to identify deficiencies or shortfalls and adopt into a functional design
· Capable and confident in creating electrical designs and SLD’s for various applications as per project technical specifications
· Capable and confident in creating Connection Impact Assessments and submitting to various LDC’s as per their technical interconnection requirements
· Able to understand and create Network Flow and Connection Diagrams encompassing various communication topologies
Primary Goals
· Interpret and understand project technical specifications and be able to create a design to appease the requirements
· Assist in growing the engineering team from a technical proficiency perspective
· Help to identify, organize and centralize various technical assets in one central location for ease of access by others
· Support the various Company departments as engineering and technical requests and inquiries arise
Technical Process Management
· Refine process and workflow for continuous improvement and efficiency
· Manage internal and external relationships associated with projects as needed
· Work with suppliers to keep abreast of new products/offerings and to ensure all necessary information is shared with pertinent team members
Technical Support
· Provide technical assistance to service team as required
· Assist in solving technical issues vis-à-vis equipment procurement and code compliance
· Manage technical communications with the customers, supply base, and internally for each project as required
· Assist in Quality Control and Quality Assurance including regular site visit inspections as required
· Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
· Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
· Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and recommendations
· Participate in company-sponsored training programs as provided

· Other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time consistent with this position and the job description and duties set out herein
· Capturing lessons learned and leading the enablement of process and tool changes as a result
