PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER

Georgiou, in joint venture with BMD Group, is delivering the Centenary Bridge Upgrade project in Jindalee, Queensland for repeat client, Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Responsibilities

This role will be key in ensuring onsite implementation of the environmental and sustainability management requirements, promoting environmental awareness and driving high performance on the project. It will require you to provide technical support on significant environmental aspects, manage multiple environmental consultants, and liaise with the client and relevant stakeholders. Your duties involve:

  • Provide leadership in the implementation of the Project Construction Environmental Management Plan, aspect specific sub plans, procedures and systems to meet legal, client, accreditation and other obligations needs
  • Conduct reviews of onsite implementation of environmental systems and procedures to identify opportunities and implement improvements
  • Developing, maintaining and ongoing support of the Environment and Sustainability Management plan, processes and system elements
  • Providing advice on environmental aspects such as erosion and sediment control, ecology, waste management, noise and vibration
  • Managing the environmental permits and approvals, and providing the project team with awareness of legal compliance requirements
  • Develop strong external relationships with regulatory authorities, client and community stakeholders to promote and gain support for Georgiou’s efforts in environmental management
  • Educate project team in understanding the contract, legal and Georgiou’s environmental requirements
  • Recording all relevant environmental data and compile reports for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the project complies with Georgiou HSEQ systems, policies, standards, and procedures
