ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Kato Electrical is looking for a full-time Project Estimator based in Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to the Owner, you will play a pivotal role in driving the estimating function for commercial and institutional projects while contributing to relationship management and revenue growth.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for preparing accurate estimates, supporting project bids, and helping secure awarded work through strong supplier and contractor relationships.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing detailed takeoffs and proposals for commercial and institutional projects valued between $500K–$5M
  • Engaging and negotiating with suppliers to ensure competitive material pricing
  • Managing bid submissions, scope clarifications, RFIs, and addenda
  • Maintaining strong relationships with general contractors, including recurring accounts
  • Tracking bid results and supporting win/loss analysis
  • Collaborating with internal teams to deliver smooth project handoffs
  • Supporting light business development activities, including securing new client relationships
  • Utilizing Accubid Pro, Livecount Pro, and other software tools to streamline estimating

ABOUT YOU

To qualify, you will need to be a Journeyperson Electrician or hold a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, with 2+ years of experience in electrical estimating within the commercial construction industry, and proficiency in Accubid Pro and Livecount Pro.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Proven track record of winning commercial projects through accurate, independent estimating
  • Familiarity with institutional, commercial, and industrial (ICI) construction
  • Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management
  • Proficiency with G Suite, Microsoft Office, and construction tech tools
  • Confidence in engaging with general contractors and project stakeholders
  • Ability to manage RFIs, scope clarifications, and bid documentation
  • Understanding of full-cycle estimating to project handoff
  • Capacity for business development, including building new GC relationships and contributing to awarded work through client engagement
