Position: Project Facilitator- Bridging Generation-Stronger Parents, Stronger Community
Reports to: Parenting Education Coordinator
Hours: 35 Hours/Week Start date: September 2025

Responsibilities
  1. Plan, organize and conduct/facilitate parenting forums and workshops on the issue of parenting, child development, mental health issues, and conflict resolution in collaboration with other streams/programs of NCP.
  2. Develop new workshops based on new trends and pressing issues as the need arises (e.g. Legalization of cannabis, LGBTQ rights, changes in the sex-ed curriculum)
  3. Work with various stakeholders, research, collect and develop marketing and training resources and materials for this parenting project.
  4. Outreach to the targeted newcomer and refugee parents to recruit project participants and widely market this project.
  5. Conduct program planning, organize advisory committee and prepare project activity calendar.
  6. Collaborate with NCP’s social media staff to ensure timely updates of the program activity calendar as well as post educational articles on pressing issues relating to parenting or challenges faced by newcomer families.
  7. Follow up with clients on their concerns and issues and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  8. Maintain statistics on client/service activities and report as required
  9. Assist in the evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and present solutions to Department Managers that will enhance service effectiveness on an ongoing basis and as part of the larger agency service system
  10. Attend staff, department and committee meetings as required
  11. Organize fundraising events to support United Way Greater Toronto’s mission
  12. Other duties as required
    Project Outcomes
  13. “Bridging Generation-Stronger Parents, Stronger Community” project is designed to conduct 60 workshops, one parenting forum and on-going educational and information sessions.
  14. The Parenting Forum should be actively maintained and supported to ensure its continued role in promoting awareness and providing education on parenting, child development, mental health, and conflict resolution
  15. Translate project material into multiple languages, and be distributed widely to newcomer communities through social media, websites and in-person
  16. To liaise with other programs providing a complete integration of clients into the services of NCP.
    Qualifications
  17. Post-secondary education with ECE Certification, along with an emphasis on parenting, child development, mental health issues, and conflict resolution
  18. 3+ years’ proven experience in working in the field of parenting, child development, mental health issues, and conflict resolution
  19. Extensive knowledge of issues relating to parenting, child development, mental health issues, and conflict resolution theories with strong understanding from different religio- cultural perspectives.
  20. Current knowledge of legislation, policies and practices affecting parenting, child development, mental health issues, and conflict resolution
  21. Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques
  22. Comfortable communicating with representatives from all segments of the community, government and human services
  23. Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining high level of accuracy in data collection; good understanding of confidential issues and privacy law/requirements
  24. Self-motivated, creative, and energetic; an ability to work as part of an effective team with other program staff, committee members, community members and other community professionals
  25. Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office (especially Word, E-mail, Internet and social media)
  26. Having a valid driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle is considered an asse
