JOB OVERVIEW Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commemorations and Industrial Design, you will support senior industrial designers and project managers in the planning, coordination, organization and preparation of plans, studies, designs and technical documentation related to industrial design and environmental graphic design for capital projects delivered under the Multi-Year Capital Program (MYCP) and major operating programs. Working under supervision, you will contribute discipline-specific expertise throughout all project phases by preparing design deliverables, conducting site assessments, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting quality assurance activities to ensure projects meet NCC’s standards for design excellence, sustainability and long-term stewardship objectives. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in industrial design or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience providing professional services in industrial design. • Experience developing concepts and design options for implementation of work relating to Industrial design. • Experience using various 2D and 3D design software such as Solid Works, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Max and SketchUp. • Experience in the preparation of technical drawings and specifications and design guidelines/briefs. KNOWLEDGE • Of the theories, methods, principles and practices of industrial design and environmental graphic design. • Of relevant codes, standards and regulatory requirements for industrial design and environmental graphic design. • Of contract documentation and procurement processes. • Of industrial design systems, materials, fabrication processes, lifecycle considerations and durability. ABILITIES • To develop and assess design options and identify design and technical issues. • To communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. • To manage and prioritize various tasks and adjust to changing priorities. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario. • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment.
