Kanagawa, Japan Job Family Group: Research and Development Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: October 6, 2025 Business unit: Projects and Technology Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: Key Responsibilities Plan, execute, and review product development projects for OEMs and Shell brands. Demonstrate lubricant performance through formulation development, demo tools, and field trials. Collaborate effectively with global and local business teams. Manage relationships with external technology partners. Support new product development strategies and manage development projects. Lead new business development with OEMs in collaboration with business development teams. Act as a technology ambassador to customers, identifying technical needs and business opportunities. Analyze competitor products and technologies to inform future product strategies. Support team development, coaching, and motivation. Ensure compliance with technical needs and resource allocation. Provide technical information aligned with global business strategies. Support global product management in portfolio maintenance, compliance, and supplier security. Engage with industry bodies (e.g., JAMA) for specification development and maintenance. Protect intellectual property through patent applications. Required Skills & Qualifications Background in science or engineering (preferably chemistry or mechanical engineering). Bachelor’s degree or higher (master’s preferred). Minimum 2 years of practical experience in lubricant technology. Knowledge of formulation, marketing support, application, performance, additives, base oils, manufacturing, and quality control. Strong project management, planning, and creativity. Excellent reporting and communication skills. Practical English communication skills (Eiken Grade 2 or TOEIC 650+ preferred). Experience managing small teams. Business-level proficiency in Japanese, both written and spoken. Core Competencies Strong awareness of safety and health in all activities.
