WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

ENGIE is seeking a Project Manager II to join the Capital Projects team at the University of Iowa. This role involves managing utility infrastructure projects that support the expansion and maintenance of systems across two university campuses. Projects range from $100,000 to $20 million and typically span 1–3 years.
The Project Manager will oversee multiple projects from development through execution, working closely with Development, Engineering, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) staff to ensure technical alignment and enforce strict health and safety standards. Responsibilities include direct oversight of engineering and construction contracts to ensure successful delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze project-level spend and schedules against approved baselines, identifies variances and initiates change processes to maintain accuracy, and delivers regular status updates—including schedule and cost insights—to clients and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders—including engineering, development, and university teams—to secure permits, plan construction logistics, and deliver construction and staging drawings
  • Lead contractor coordination and site engagement by managing labor relationships, master service agreements, and ensuring compliance with ENGIE’s health and safety registration and contractor ethical requirements; facilitate contractor requirements through regular site visits and oversee the General Contractor’s Request for Proposals
  • Support procurement activities by collaborating with sourcing teams to obtain competitive quotes and proposals from various suppliers across the full project scope
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, address contractor needs, and ensure alignment with project requirements and safety protocols
