Play a leading role in shaping the project management of significant three waters infrastructure projects, that have high community impact and visibility as the second largest water service provider in Aotearoa. To deliver on this, we are looking for skilled project professionals at all levels - Coordinator, Project and Senior Project Managers

ABOUT YOU

We’re seeking candidates who bring a strong mix of project management and coordination skills, along with the ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

You’ll be successful in these roles if you have:

  • Experience in project delivery within civil infrastructure, water, construction, or related sectors.
  • Strong commercial and procurement acumen with understanding of NZS391 contracts and construction contracts act.
  • Managing the entire project cycle – Concept development, design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Experience working in the local government sector and project management office (PMO)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to manage project risk, safety, compliance, and reporting to a high standard.
  • Leadership attributes to mentor others and foster high-performing teams.
  • For senior roles: proven delivery of complex or high-risk infrastructure projects, with 7+ years’ experience
  • A collaborative mindset with strong emotional intelligence and a drive for excellence.

Wellington Water is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We’re a multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLES

Our Project Managers will play a pivotal leading role to ensure delivery of critical network assets, infrastructure, plant and environmental improvements are carried out in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

Depending on your role level, your responsibilities may include:

  • Leading projects end-to-end: from scoping and procurement to delivery and handover.
  • Managing project performance: overseeing scope, schedule, cost, and risk while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Commercial and contract management: leading procurement processes, negotiations, and contractor performance.
  • Project coordination and support: maintaining project documentation, reporting, financial tracking, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Stakeholder and community engagement: preparing engagement plans and supporting positive communications with our partners, councils, and mana whenua.
  • Embedding best practice: supporting the development of a project management centre of excellence across Wellington Water.
