OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate project manager capable of leading initiatives critical to planning and promoting active transportation within our community.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-year degree or diploma in a related field (i.e. Transportation Planning, Planning, Engineering, Project Management).
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in project management, community engagement, and/or transportation planning.
  • Proven knowledge of transportation planning and/or engineering principles and practices; traffic studies; traffic impact analysis; roadway design, signing, and marking; traffic calming, and surveying.
  • Demonstrated experience applying TAC, OTM, AODA and NACTO standards and guidelines to the planning and design of urban networks and streets.
  • Proven knowledge of and ability to conduct research, policy development, major planning studies, impact analysis, cost/benefit and budget analysis, community engagement, and business case preparation.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and Outlook.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out project management responsibilities including collecting requirements, work plan preparation and execution, stakeholder management, community engagement, scheduling and budgeting for high profile active transportation projects.
  • Lead, and participate in, various project teams to coordinate and assist with the delivery of active transportation projects including master planning and functional design for cycling, multi-use trail and accessible pedestrian facilities.
  • Support the development and implementation of Kitchener’s Cycling and Trails Master Plan and Complete Streets Guidelines.
  • Provide functional guidance on implementing active transportation facilities through transportation master plans, environmental impact assessments, transportation corridor studies and development applications.
  • Execute promotional / marketing of the benefits of active transportation through community based social marketing and community events.
  • Work with public and private stakeholders to encourage transportation demand management measures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
