Description
Who We Are ATCO Frontec is a market leader providing facilities management, camp services, workforce lodging, operational support, and emergency management solutions across a diverse range of clients and locations. We are a service‑based organization built on teamwork, accountability, and delivering excellence in the communities where we work and live. Position Overview ATCO Frontec is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multi‑disciplinary construction projects within our Northern Operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing mechanical, civil, and electrical scopes, with the ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and coordinate multiple trades. Projects may include building upgrades, utility installations, mechanical/electrical systems integration, infrastructure construction, and small‑scale industrial facilities. Experience working in remote or northern locations is an asset, as is experience with water treatment or other process‑based mechanical systems — but neither is mandatory. This position requires periodic travel across Canada’s northern regions. Key Responsibilities Project Management & Execution Lead planning, execution, monitoring, and close‑out of construction projects involving mechanical, electrical, and civil components. Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and resource allocations. Conduct pre‑construction meetings, site orientations, and safety briefings. Monitor work progress and ensure alignment with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards. Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage changes effectively. Technical Oversight Review and interpret mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve design questions, clarify requirements, and ensure constructability. Oversee installation and verification of mechanical systems (pumps, piping, HVAC, process equipment), electrical systems (distribution, controls, instrumentation), and civil works (earthworks, foundations, site development). Review and manage shop drawings, submittals, and technical documentation. Contract & Subcontractor Management Prepare, issue, and evaluate RFP/RFQ packages, award subcontracts in accordance with the Subcontracts Manual. Maintain a roster of qualified subcontractors across mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines. Manage subcontractor performance, resolve issues quickly, and ensure compliance with technical and contractual requirements. Verify and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy and completion of work. Safety, Compliance & Quality Ensure all work complies with local regulations, building codes, and ATCO HS&E standards. Promote a strong safety culture among all contractor and site teams. Conduct site inspections to verify quality, identify deficiencies, and support commissioning or turnover activities. Client & Stakeholder Coordination Meet regularly with clients to review project status, discuss technical issues, and align on expectations. Respond promptly to scope changes, emerging needs, or unplanned work. Maintain accurate, organized project documentation and ensure consistent reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of experience managing construction projects with multi‑trade (mechanical, civil, electrical) involvement. Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, blueprints, and schematics. Solid understanding of construction practices, building systems, and safety regulations. Skilled in coordinating multiple subcontractors and managing concurrent project elements. Proficient with MS Office and project management tools. Valid driver’s license with a strong driving record. Able to obtain Federal Government Reliability Security Clearance. Assets Experience working in remote or Northern Canadian environments. Experience with process mechanical systems, utilities, or water/wastewater systems. Diploma or degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management (or equivalent experience). Experience with commissioning and turnover processes. Additional Information We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Personal information will be collected and used in accordance with ATCO Group privacy policies.
