Project Manager – Wellington Location: Wellington, New Zealand Company: BGIS, primarily working with KiwiRail Contract (PMO) Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, On-Site/Hybrid Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of commercial construction projects across our KiwiRail Contract within the PMO. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and KiwiRail stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and seamless project execution. Your work will directly support operational continuity and infrastructure reliability. The ideal candidate will be proactive, client-focused, solutions-driven, and confident in delivering multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional stakeholder relationships. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and deliver end-to-end projects ranging from $10k–$2m (typically $100k–$200k). Conduct pre-start meetings, obtain required permits, and provide ongoing site supervision. Manage project Health & Safety requirements and ensure full compliance with BGIS and legislative standards. Develop programmes using Microsoft Project and ensure delivery on time and within budget. Engage, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and external service providers. Identify, mitigate, and report on project risks. Ensure all quality assurance and audit processes meet project specifications. Complete all project close-out documentation and handover requirements. Maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, architects, and council authorities. Education, Experience & Skills Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in building, construction, or property services. Strong knowledge of project management methodology. Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and compliance frameworks ⚠️. Proficient in Microsoft Project and general project reporting tools. Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and contractor performance. Desirable: Knowledge of building methods, materials, and interpretation of architectural drawings. Project Management or Health & Safety qualifications. Experience delivering projects in operational or critical environments. Strong administration, documentation, and technical reporting capability. Workplace Flexibility This role is based on-site in Wellington, supporting KiwiRail operations.
