Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of our Building Services team, you will play an active role in supporting ongoing projects across the province. Your role will include evaluating the current state of a building’s structure and systems to determine maintenance, repair and/or replacement needs. You will further evaluate the performance and integrity of the building envelope, that includes the exterior walls, roofs, windows, doors and foundation and ensure that buildings meet the standards specified in warranties and identify any defects that require attention. You will work in collaboration with other members of the team and make a positive contribution to the successful execution of projects and client’s satisfaction. The annual salary range for the position is between $70,000 and $85,000.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

New Business Development

  • Meet with prospects and industry contacts on an ongoing basis;
  • Follow-up on leads provided by the marketing department with building owners;
  • Attend trade shows to build relationships and industry contacts;
  • Develop complex proposals for more complex work;
  • Delegate and oversee proposal preparation for more routine work;
  • Participate in industry associations, e.g., condominium associations.

Client Relations and Client Development

  • Manage relationship with clients to ensure that client expectations are met and ensure that all restoration work is within scope;
  • Ensure all project deliverables are on time and within budget;
  • Meet with existing clients on an ongoing basis to fully understand needs and secure new work for project managers;
  • Lead the initial meeting with new clients.

Technical and Field Work

  • Oversees and manages the work of assigned staff;
  • Assign staff to perform building investigation including building cladding and structural components;
  • Oversee and review the preparation of reports on recommendations for restoration repair projects including order of magnitude cost estimates;
  • Attend progress meetings with contractors, clients and board members;
  • Oversee the preparation of specifications for repairs and create cost projections for projects;
  • Be responsible for permit applications;
  • Be responsible for bid analysis for repair work and approve invoices for work performed;
  • Assign staff to schedule and coordinate contractor repair work;
  • Monitor quality and accuracy of restoration process through site visits and condition assessments ensuring that the project remains within the original scope;
  • Collaborate with Director of Restoration to prepare and submit proposals;
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled departmental and team meetings informing the Director of project progress;
  • Provide input, as required, on all aspects of your work in terms of overall efficiency, creativity and technical knowledge;
  • Perform other duties as required.
