Civida is currently launching several major growth projects, each valued between $30 million and $60 million, as well as a portfolio of asset renewal projects in the range of $45 million.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • PMP, P.Eng., or other relevant certifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge relating to residential construction, property maintenance, preventative maintenance, energy conservation and health and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, building codes, and regulatory processes.
  • Proven experience working with consultants, contractors, and public stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and budgeting tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently looking for a Project Manager - Capital Maintenance Renewals to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Project Planning & Delivery, the Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful planning, execution, and completion of multiple refurbishment and new infrastructure projects.
The Project Manager oversees all phases of the project lifecycle—from early concept and zoning applications to final construction—ensuring alignment with Civida’s Strategic Plan and project goals.
This role manages all aspects of project delivery, including design, planning, procurement, budgeting, cost control, scheduling, change and risk management, safety, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead planning, design, and construction activities for redevelopment and new development projects.
  • Participate in public engagement activities related to site development or redevelopment.
  • Lead the regulatory and approvals process with consultants and authorities.
  • Prepare project scopes and procurement strategies for professional services and construction contracts.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans (scope, schedule, budget, delivery methodology).
  • Review and validate design drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and applicable standards.
  • Prepare tender documents and coordinate with Procurement to administer competitive bidding processes.
  • Supervise and support the work of the Assistant Project Manager.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Identify and assess project risks; document and implement mitigation strategies with clear ownership.
  • Coordinate and oversee consultants, contractors, and government/business partners throughout all project phases.

  • Establish, monitor, and report on project timelines and deliverables, considering impacts on all stakeholders to minimize delays.

  • Estimate and regularly monitor both hard and soft project costs; track and forecast the budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Report on project progress, risks, and issues to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage and reconcile project budgets throughout all stages, including scope changes and approvals.
  • Analyze and explain budget variances and final cost outcomes.
  • Champion a strong safety culture on all job sites and within project teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with occupational health and safety regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct or participate in safety inspections and audits during all phases of construction.
  • Address safety concerns or incidents promptly and proactively.
