Initiates project planning with client, designers and/or architect. Supports programming efforts, acquisition of field information and provides inputs for constructability. Works closely with Carilion Design, Engineering and Maintenance, Materials Management, Technology Services and all related internal and external sources throughout project life. Responsible for preparation of project scope by interfacing closely with system clients, and all applicable resources. Prepares related project timeline and budget for approval by Director/Manager, client and Carilion administration. Manages preparation of construction drawings and specifications in compliance with Carilion standards and all applicable codes. Coordinates design staff, architects, engineers and specialty professionals to maintain integrity of project design and schedule/budget objectives. Responsible for reviewing project with Carilion's Infection Control, Safety and Engineering & Maintenance departments. Reviews risk factors prior to and during construction. Maintains project documentation including correspondence, meeting minutes, technical and contractual information. Documents clearly scope deviations. Ensures timely and accurate communication with all stakeholders through project cycle. Previews project budget and schedule and assesses progress. Alerts stakeholders of any impending impacts. Make recommendations regarding budget schedule and scope changes. Pursues contractor selection by preparing bid package, responding to contractor inquiries and evaluating bids. Prepares recommendations for review by Director/Manager and Carilion administration. Responsible for contractor training as applicable. Responsible for ensuring project completion within schedule and budget. Manages all project activities during construction. Ensures general contractor work is performed on schedule and supervises work by Carilion contractors. Coordinates all resources. Manages scope changes and ensures timely and cost effective implementation. Responsible for timely procurement and installation of equipment, furniture and accessories. Facilitates work by Information Services and other Carilion groups. Coordinates client move-in efforts. Work involves the application of professional construction project management skills. Assigns and reviews work of others. Provides guidance, direction and maintenance of workflow. Refers only the most complex issues and problems to the supervisor. Regularly communicates with contractors, regulators, vendors, and Carillion staff. Manages budget for major projects including formation of cost containment initiatives. Decides whether actions are in compliance with laws, guidelines and/or policies. Sets precedents which influence decision-making, while oversight is provided by manager, compliance officer or other higher-level employee. Impact of work is service line or system wide. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. Evening and weekend work may be required. What We Require: Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering architecture, construction administration, or equivalent 8 years of experience. Experience: Five years of experience in facilities management, design, construction, interior design or related field required. Healthcare experience preferred. Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Virginia Driver's license. A professional license required as appropriate for education. Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problem solving and teamwork skills required. Ability to work in a diplomatic manner with Diverse clientele, technical professionals, contractors and vendors. Position requires self-discipline, motivation and ability to make decisions under pressure. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. PMI membership desirable. May be required to travel to multiple Carilion work sites.
