The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Manager to provide a critical role within Custodial Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in a similar role, including time and cost management, procurement process and attention to detail and accuracy, is essential.
  • An appropriate qualification in project management, civil construction, engineering, architecture or proven track record of equivalent, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency (intermediate to advanced) in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel and PowerPoint), email management and internet knowledge, is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Project would be highly regarded.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the Project Manager is to develop business cases, feasibility and option papers, for high value and/or high-risk asset and infrastructure upgrade projects, minor new builds, and refurbishment projects in correctional facilities, in collaboration with Commercial Services internal and external stakeholders and then to deliver those projects.
On a day-to-day basis, the Project Manager will report to the General Manager, Minor Capital Projects and Assets and Infrastructure Funding Tool (AIFT).

As the Project Manager, some of your duties will include:

  • Leading, managing and delivering high-value, high-risk asset and infrastructure AMSC projects, contracts and minor capital works for custodial facilities across Victoria, ensuring timely completions within project cost, scope and quality.
  • Managing the progress of assigned projects and tasks including the project budget, identification and communication of identified risks, the project risk register, cost reconciliations, invoice management (as delegated), development of feasibility options papers and work collaboratively to mitigate and resolve matters.
  • Preparing reports, briefings and presentations to influence stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders on a range of program development matters in order to meet a high-standard, timelines for delivery of projects and services, and within budget.
  • Working collaboratively within a team of multidisciplinary project managers and technical experts, providing project management expert advice and guidance to team members, including negotiation and liaison with senior stakeholders, external government agencies and service providers on a range of program development and delivery issues.
  • Monitoring and contributing to the Assets and Infrastructure Funding Tool and funding business cases/requests associated with AMSC.
  • Actively leading and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the Contracts and Infrastructure leadership group.

  • Demonstrated project management experience in construction infrastructure upgrade projects, building services, facilities, new builds, and/or refurbishment environments.
  • Proven experience coordinating and developing business cases including feasibility/options papers for infrastructure projects.
