Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.     Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.    We currently have an opportunity for a Project Manager in Melbourne to work on MLF projects.       What You’ll Do      This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:    * Coordinate core project administration, including developing and maintaining meeting minutes, schedules and work‑take‑on documentation.  * Manage subcontractor performance, monitoring burn rates and ensuring hours remain within approved budgets for each scope of work.  * Maintain strong stakeholder relationships, working closely with subcontractors and Commonwealth representatives to support effective service delivery.  * Oversee financial management activities, ensuring budgets are tracked accurately and monthly financial reporting is delivered to the Commonwealth.  * Support high‑visibility Defence project delivery, providing structured project management services across documentation, governance and resource coordination.    What You’ll Bring    * Strong project management capability, including managing schedules, meetings, documentation, subcontractor oversight and work‑take‑on processes for high‑visibility Defence projects.  * Financial management skills, with the ability to track budgets, monitor subcontractor burn rates, maintain financial reporting and ensure monthly updates to the Commonwealth.  * Excellent stakeholder engagement, able to build and maintain productive relationships with subcontractors, Commonwealth representatives and internal teams.  * High‑level organisational and administrative skills, including meeting minute preparation, schedule coordination and maintaining accurate project records.  * Ability to manage governance and compliance requirements, ensuring documentation, reporting and processes meet Defence expectations and support effective service delivery.    Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Baseline or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
