Description
We are currently seeking a Project Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to join our Airports and Specialised Pavements team. The position is ideally suited to candidates experienced with asphalt, surfacing and paving or civil construction with a focus on Airports and Racetracks and can demonstrate a high level of independent, objective decision making in daily operations, while also contributing collaboratively to strategic and business initiatives. This role will require national travel and will be responsible for the delivery of various projects. The successful candidate can be based out of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide. Key responsibilities * Lead the planning and execution of airports and specialised pavements projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.  * Manage and mentor supervisors and crews, fostering a high-performance culture.  * Oversee project financials including budgeting, forecasting, claims, and reconciliations.  * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and government agencies to ensure compliance and build strong relationships.  * Monitor and report on KPIs, productivity, and quality standards.  * Ensure plant, materials, and resources are effectively managed and maintained.  * Implement continuous improvement strategies and internal audits to enhance operational performance. * Drive Zero Harm initiatives and uphold Downer’s values across all operations.  What you’ll bring * Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business Management or a related discipline.  * 10 + years of exposure in airports, racetracks or civil road construction. * Strong financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.  * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.  * Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to drive team performance.  * Strong safety focus – actively participate in and support Downer Zero Harm initiatives and strategies. * Ability to travel nationally when required.
