Position Summary: Reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering, the Project Manager, Engineering is accountable for successful completion of various capital projects while providing technical support, guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment and service issues. This position provides proactive and effective support to improve systems and processes needed to increase efficiency, visibility, and issue management. The incumbent maintains a focus on supporting Plant Managers to manage their facility plans including building repairs, construction and environmental systems. The Project Manager, Engineering will ensure productivity and successful operation of each project by ensuring improvements and production requirements align. The key to success will be measured through efficient management of resources. Ensure issues are dealt with quickly and effectively and that plant management concerns are being addressed. The Project Manager, Engineering will provide leadership and support in the areas of supplier development, selection, negotiations and contract development for sourcing food equipment, building services, and other related capital spending. Key Accountabilities: Provide technical support and guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment and services; Manage various capital projects, from concept through to commissioning including budget; Preparation and negotiating with vendors; Schedule projects, resources and monitor project timelines; Ensures all outsource trades people are knowledgeable as it relates to the company's Health and Safety policy; Assist Plant Managers foster a continuous improvement culture in the manufacturing facilities; Builds and maintains excellent client relationships; Involved in new equipment decisions, installations, upgrades, redesigns, physical plant changes or repairs; Identifies key CFIA facilities requirements for federally regulated food plants; Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external individuals; Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize a heavy workload; Is accountable and takes ownership of all tasks and projects that are engaged; Provide regular progress and status reports regarding technical, cost and schedule performance of projects. Requirements: Engineering Degree is a must; P. Eng / PMP designation (preferred); 3-5 years of engineering project related experience and strong working technical background in food manufacturing industry; Demonstrate successful completion of capital projects, supplier/contract management and contract; Hands on approach, leader on the floor working with stakeholders to understand business; Problem solving skills with root cause analysis; Excellent organization and project management skills; Keen interest in fostering continuous improvement; 25% travel supporting GTA plants.
