THE OPPORTUNITY:

Are you seeking a role with a company dedicated to unravelling the intricacies of disease pathology at the single-cell level and developing pioneering new therapies for human disease?
Do you want to be a member of an interdisciplinary and international team of computational biologists, AI/ML experts, cell biologists, and biotherapeutic discovery scientists to drive drug discovery in human disease?
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Project Manager to join our growing company focused on the use of advanced single cell technologies and AI to drive drug discovery. As a member of the Operations team, you will play a pivotal role by providing robust and comprehensive project management for our research projects; these span multi-faceted genomic exploratory investigations into new human diseases, and drug discovery projects based on targets generated by our proprietary platform. You will work closely with our scientists with skills in single cell technology, computational biology, human tissue biology, biotherapeutics discovery, and clinical disease experts in the UK and US to bring our therapeutic discovery projects from inception through to the clinic. The Project Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders across a wide variety of roles, including science teams and management, to initiate, plan, and execute projects, ensuring milestones are achieved, risks are identified and managed, and ensure that progress is reported and documented.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

  • Scientific degree (BSc required, MSc/PhD desirable) in a relevant subject
  • Proven experience in successfully managing scientific projects within the pharma and/or biotech industries from inception through to IND.
  • Demonstrates excellent networking and relationship building and the ability to effectively handle both internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment and demonstrate agile working approach with excellent organisational and prioritising ability.
  • Demonstrate an ability to provide, receive and record both routine and highly complex communications, electronically, orally, and written.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, project management qualification or training would be advantageous e.g. CAPM, PRINCE2, APM etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and timelines effectively.
  • Familiarity with regulatory aspects of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment would be beneficial.
  • Positive, enthusiastic and sociable. Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Ability to summarise complex information and present to a wide variety of audiences in a concise and logical manner.
  • Ability to manage conflict in diverse groups, deals with conflict promptly, in a calm and constructive manner.
  • Proactive with strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working within the Human Tissue Act would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, including Scientists and Heads of Departments to ensure advancement of pipeline projects.
  • Proactively monitor overall progress of projects, working to resolve issues and initiate corrective action as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Complete high level budget monitoring and forecasting, drafting reports for project science leads and the leadership team as required.
  • Identify and manage risks in conjunction with Project Leads and Heads of Department, escalating issues to management as required.
  • Drive key company projects and initiatives from inception through to completion.
  • Establish, adapt, and maintain standards of Project Management processes.
  • Carry out post-implementation reviews to assess output against project objectives.
  • Work closely with project science leads to chair, manage and document project meetings.
  • Developing and reporting key project metrics throughout the projects to ensure each is on track to produce final outcome.
  • Initiate and manage contracts with external collaborators and vendors to facilitate project delivery.
  • In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
