Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead and coordinate environmental projects across the Yukon, with a focus on environmental assessments, remediation, drilling programs, environmental monitoring, and technical reviews. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management capabilities, a solid understanding of Yukon-specific and federal environmental regulations, and proven technical expertise in their field.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of environmental projects.
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including technical staff, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare project proposals, budgets, schedules, work plans, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Conduct or supervise technical reviews of environmental assessments, site investigations, remediation designs, and monitoring reports.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, territorial, and municipal environmental regulations and guidelines are met.
- Engage with clients, Indigenous communities, regulators, and the public in a professional and respectful manner.
- Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance are maintained throughout all project phases.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, regulatory submissions, and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
- Monitor project performance and provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders.
- Assist in mentoring junior and intermediate staff in deliverables/fieldwork/task management skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental project management.
- Professional status (e.g. P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Ag., or R.P.Bio.) or eligibility for professional status.
- Strong understanding of contaminated site assessment and remediation principles and practices.
- Experience conducting and managing Phase I and II ESAs in accordance with CSA and industry standards.
- Experience supervising or managing drilling programs and associated field investigations.
- Familiarity with federal and Yukon-specific environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training is an asset.
- Experience with various remediation techniques (e.g. excavation, biological treatment, in-situ treatment/remediation, risk assessment, reclamation) is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote project locations as needed.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
Work Conditions
- Office is based in Whitehorse
- There is the possibility of fieldwork when needed which may require travel into remote locations.
- Flexible work schedule during peak project periods.
