What You’ll Do
As a Project Manager, you will oversee the full life cycle of heavy civil construction projects—both public and private—ranging from $50M and up.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of Project Engineers and field management staff
  • Managing subcontractors and client relationships effectively
  • Full P&L ownership, including cost control and risk management
  • Pre-construction planning, project set-up, scheduling, and safety oversight
  • Driving projects to successful, on-time, and on-budget completion

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience managing heavy civil projects with a focus on wet utilities, excavation, grading, and paving
  • Proven track record of managing self-perform forces and delivering projects exceeding $50M
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Caltrans projects (a plus)
  • Proficiency in industry software: HCSS, Bluebeam, P6, Agtek, Bid2Win, Trimble, etc.

What You’ll Do

  • Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Use industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam for takeoffs, pricing, and tracking.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and field teams to gather critical data for accurate bids.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate project requirements, site conditions, and potential challenges.
  • Solicit and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive bids.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimate reports with detailed breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
  • Assist in developing preliminary project schedules aligned with estimate timelines.
  • Monitor and analyze project costs post-award to support budget adherence and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Proficiency with HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other estimating tools.
  • Solid understanding of excavation, wet utilities, grading, and paving operations.
  • Strong cost control expertise and a detail-oriented approach to estimating.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for working with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical data and specifications.
  • Experience managing multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
