Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: University degree in Architecture, Engineering or related, PLUS 4 years related experience or equivalent as described.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Responsibilities

The Project Manager reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Government Facilities will directly manage the delivery of assigned capital projects such as Courthouse Facilities, Correctional Facilities, Museum and similar government facilities projects. This role also includes consultant investigations in government owned sites and facilities. The Project Manager manages multi-discipline projects involving architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, etc.

You will be responsible for:

  • Establishing, managing, and directing the project teams to successfully deliver assigned projects
  • Establishing project scope and parameters to meet client requirements within all applicable Ministry and Government standards and guidelines
  • Ensuring project budgets are established and maintained
  • Ensuring project schedules are appropriately established and maintained
  • Ensuring design, tender, construction and building commissioning processes for assigned projects are managed appropriately
  • Supporting senior ministry officials, Executive Directors, Directors, and/or clients in decision-making and achieving branch and department goals
  • Maintaining and monitoring administrative controls for projects
  • Providing input and active participation to ministry and cross-government initiatives
  • Appropriately managing risk

The Project Manager plans and manages activities and resources to effectively deliver on multiple projects at one time within scope, schedule, and budget constraints and in compliance with relevant legislation, policies, standards, and guidelines. The Project Manager is required to ensure that facilities meet the needs of the program ministries in relation to the delivery of government programs. The work undertaken impacts not only the program ministries, but the users of the facilities that are built, including the general public, government employees and private sector tenants.
