JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Project Manager 1 (husbandry) Bldg 35 for our Insourcing Solutions site located in Bethesda, MD.
The following are responsibilities related to the Project Manager 1:
- Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP’s and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area. Cares for and maintains laboratory animals
- Oversees and coordinates the daily activities of the animal facility to include scheduling of staff for both workdays and weekends.
- Oversees all aspects of husbandry support, to include related paperwork, cage change scheduling, and supplies.
- Actively interacts with Project Officers, facility veterinarian(s) and investigators as required to solve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints.
- Works with subordinate employees to ensure that all work is performed according the task Statement of Work.
- Participates in interviewing applicants for open positions, developing performance improvement plans, and writing employee performance evaluations.
- Assists in assessing training needs, as well as, developing and presenting training for staff and investigators
- Oversees the animal surveillance program related to the husbandry staff.
- Occasionally provides technical support (e.g. restraining animals, weaning, etc.).
- Provides animal husbandry and environmental enrichment for colony animals.
- Provides quality assurance to include animal health surveillance, monitoring of the effectiveness of facility sanitation, autoclaving procedures, monitoring of incoming animal shipments for container integrity and animal health, monitor the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), internal facility reports for monitoring deviations from pre-established parameters, other quality assurance services as deemed necessary (e.g., water cultures) by the Project Officer.
- Provides data entry/data base report generation for computerized systems which monitor facility internal environmental parameters, security, or other animal facility monitoring and management requirements.
- Assist training department and supervisors in the development of course content and materials for training and continuing education of the animal care staff to achieve AALAS certification. Assists in assessing training needs, as well as, developing and presenting training for staff and investigators.
- Will be required to rotate weekend coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following are minimum qualifications related to the Project Manager 1 position:
- Education: AA/AS degree in Animal Science or related field required plus four years lab animal experience. Or BA/BS degree or higher in Animal Science or related field and 3 years same experience.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience of supervisory experience in a multiple labor category rodent facility.
- Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG).
The pay range for this position $38.50 to $42.25 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
