EXPERIENCE

  • Thorough knowledge of Green book and Section 20, of the Department of Transportation; Standard Plans and standard specification for CALTRANS
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a strong understanding of construction processes.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling and time management techniques.
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as ProCore is highly desirable.
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and contract management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in all aspects of project execution.

EDUCATION

  • 4-year college degree or related certification required
  • Preferred 10 years of field operations and project management experience in a large-scale landscape operation and demonstrate knowledge and abilities, to include supervisory responsibilities
  • Required 16 hours continuing education pertaining to duties and management.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, HR, Equipment and Vehicle Preventative Program, etc.
  • Identify and correct all unsafe conditions and practices and communicate actions to Safety Manager and owners
  • Ensures delivery tickets and purchase orders are accurately coded with job names and numbers, coordinates with the Contract Administrator and purchasing upon receipt of approved project contracts for timely procurement of project materials and prepares billing process reports timely.
  • 5-8 million dollars of project contract work including Contract Change Order to be reviewed for potential department expansion of personnel.
  • Ensure that as-built plans are complete and accurate
  • Review Project Costs and Budget weekly, report issues to President / Leadership
  • Review Project Schedule; ie. Bid Date, RFI dates, Contract Date, Completion Date, Milestone dates and plan and schedule work to be in compliance.
  • Ability to identify out of scope/extra work and effectively and expeditiously process change orders
  • Read and interpret and follow plans, material list and specifications as they pertain to building projects
  • Through subordinate supervisors be able to manage multiple projects and company resources
  • Using current project cost data ensure that the project is within budgetary perimeters. If not, make recommendations to Field Superintendent and/or Field Foremen on recapture of cost saving and improved performance efficiencies
  • Prepare and submit per Contract requirements all RFI’s, Claims, Change Order Requests
  • Acts as primary point of contact with the client for project coordination and communications.
  • Conduct final walkthrough with client/provide solutions for closing out project if mediation is required.
  • Manages and dispatches all subcontractors on landscape construction projects in coordination with crew Foreman
  • Prepares, analyses, and reports to management job costing reports
  • Communicate progress on landscape projects to company management and field staff
  • Attend & conducts pre-construction meetings with agencies, property owner, Inspectors and sub & prime contractors as required
  • Ability to successfully advocate for and forecast project resources (team, materials, time to completion, etc.)
  • Ability to develop scopes of work inclusive of optimized suggestions for equipment, identified value added engineering options, material requirements, labor needed and time to completion.
  • Understanding of prevailing wage requirements on projects
  • Manage various stages and/or phases of the work and their resources accordingly.
  • General understanding of all types of general constructions and their processes along with a general knowledge of the pitfalls associated with out of sequence construction.
  • Endorsement of all estimates in your assigned area on pre-bid submittal.
  • Interview, recommend for hire, discipline and terminate field staff personnel.
  • Oversee, implement and insure training of field staff
  • Ensue that supervisory personnel follow equipment and vehicle preventative program
  • Schedule work force allocations for all projects
  • Have overall supervision of Project Coordinator, Foremen, General Foremen and provide technical assistance/advice as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of job skills listed above
  • In the absence of Field Superintendent appoint a temporary superintendent or perform the duties of the position.
  • Complete performance evaluations on Field Superintendent(s) as required
  • Demonstrate ability to take responsibility for landscape field operations
  • Manage assigned expense account and demonstrate appropriate discretion of the use of companies open accounts and recognized benefits.
  • Recognize that project demands may require unconventional working hours and/ or unconventional working week schedules.
