POSITION OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to provide leadership and oversight for large-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects at the Darlington site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from initiation to closeout—ensuring delivery on scope, budget, schedule, safety, and quality.
This is a highly visible role that requires strong technical expertise, stakeholder management, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic, safety-critical environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years’ project management experience leading large, complex projects/programs, preferably within the utilities or nuclear sector.
  • Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, cost and schedule management, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and major manufacturers’ equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop estimates, schedules, execution plans, contracting strategies, and business forecasts.
  • Experience with ECC (Engineering Change Control) processes is an asset.
  • A strong blend of work planning, field team leadership, project execution, and risk management skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned EPC projects from initiation through execution to project closeout.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, risk registers, and forecasts.
  • Oversee and administer EPC contracts, including purchase order tracking, invoice review, and change management.
  • Provide governance and oversight to EPC vendors to ensure compliance with OPG requirements on budget, quality, schedule, and safety.
  • Liaise between OPG and vendor stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare business case summaries and secure project funding approvals.
  • Lead monthly project forecasting and reporting for project lifecycle.
  • Fulfill roles such as Field Team Lead (FTL) and Modification Team Lead (MTL) during execution phases.
  • Coordinate with station operations and technical teams to support project integration.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to junior project staff.
  • Support the Section Manager in administrative and planning activities.
