ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Health & Safety:

  • Prepares and implements a health and safety plan for the project and ensures a culture of safety.
  • Demonstrates commitment to all health & safety matters and provides safety leadership to the project team.

Team Leadership:

  • Leads a project team that may be comprised of multi-discipline members.
  • Implements communication tools and process to ensure all team members are informed about project status and key performance indicators.
  • Oversees, motivates and monitors the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.

Technical Expertise:

  • Ensures Company methodologies, processes, tools and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met/satisfied.
  • Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
  • Establishes processes and protocols for the documentation and cost control of the project.
  • Creates and implements tracking and reporting requirements.

Financial Acumen:

  • Strong understanding and application of business drivers, financial reporting standards.
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of client contract to the oversight and management of the project.
  • Ensures proper change control processes are understood and used with the project team and with the client.

Execution Planning & Performance:

  • Develops an integrated set of functional/discipline execution plans.
  • Manages the application of appropriate coordination, and implements regular reviews and controls to monitor project progress.
  • Develops project schedules and resource plans and requirements for all aspects of the project.
  • Interprets and understands all of the key elements of the project schedule (such as critical path, actual versus planned activities, etc.) to identify adverse trends and take correction action when required.
  • Applies forward planning with schedule to resource the project appropriately.
  • Implements lessons learned and how to implement potential changes into project delivery.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Identifies and understands the client’s key drivers (KPIs).
  • Prepares and implements a communication plan based on the scope of work (SOW).
  • Understands client delivery models and effectively identifies and manages different stakeholders.

Risk Management:

  • Identifies potential risks or new risks as the project progresses and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plans.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Normally requires a BS degree in appropriate discipline and 5-7 years of project manager or project related experience.
  • Certification as a licensed professional is preferred.
  • Has demonstrated strong project management skills at the PM1 level with engineering and procurement scope.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Successfully lead at least 5 engineering and procurement projects.
  • Strong understanding of all Corporate procedures, tools protocols and systems.
  • Commitment to Project Imperatives, Safety Culture, Risk Philosophy, Ethics and Performance Excellence.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Project Management, this role will primarily be responsible for:

  • Successful planning and execution on small to medium-sized projects.
  • May be responsible for technical team management on larger, more complex projects.
  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.
  • Directs or supervises project personnel in a matrix reporting relationship.
  • May serve as a proposal/development manager to the projects to which they will be assigned.
