Our client is a leading contracting company offering professional and high-standard services to the construction industry in British Columbia. They have multiple offices and are adding a Project Manager to their industrial contracting division. Kamloops, BC would be the ideal location. However, our client is also open to candidates in the Prince George, BC area.
The new hire will be directly responsible for the growth and success of Industrial Contracting services across various contract types, including fixed price, design-build, construction management, cost-plus, unit price. Focus on enhancing profitability, meeting schedules, maximizing resource utilization, ensuring safety standards, and achieving client satisfaction. Lead project execution, foster strong relationships, and drive high-performance results aligned with client objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing projects, preferably in industrial construction.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience on projects ranging from $5 - 20 million in value.
  • Degree or Diploma in an Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field.
  • Relationships with Thompson Okanagan area subtrades is an asset, and experience working on complex and large-scale projects.
  • Strong comprehension of the construction industry.
  • Uncompromising integrity and drive.
  • Skilled in identifying challenges, mitigating risks, and driving solutions on-site and in planning.
  • Strength in fostering strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate company’s construction execution.
  • Participate in weekly or monthly or scheduled meetings of the Industrial Construction Department to review project progress, discuss project or client issues, resources and equipment planning.
  • Stays abreast of current developments and trends in all relevant technical/professional knowledge.
  • Build an expert level of knowledge and understanding of various construction contract formats; reading/interpreting drawings and specifications; job costing system; environmental standards, etc.
  • Build proficiency in Heavy Bid and Heavy Job for estimating and project management.
  • Gain competency in client and project-specific requirements, such as occupied buildings, emergency response, underground utilities, specialty concrete work, and scaffolding.
  • Responsible for complete understanding, interpretation and management of the Contract and identifying the situations that would be “out of contract” work, costs or required new rates for the company.
  • Provides day-to-day direction, guidance and technical input for site staff in the execution of their responsibilities, including assisting in the development and implementation of on-site construction methods and procedures designed to improve job site productivity and improve “product quality.”
  • Responsible for leading and motivating direct reports to achieve and exceed project profitability, site productivity, safety results, and achieve their personal and professional growth objectives.
