The Sakatti deposit is located in Finnish Lapland near the town of Sodankylä, and within the existing exploration permit areas fully owned by Anglo American Sakatti Mining Oy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo American Plc. The Sakatti deposit is a unique, poly-metallic deposit that contains seven payable metals, including copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum, palladium, gold, and silver. The mine is targeted to produce two concentrates, high-grade copper and nickel concentrates but has optionality available to produce a bulk Cu-Ni concentrate.
The Sakatti project presents a unique opportunity to build a modern, state of the art mine which can showcase Anglo American’s technological leadership.
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager - Infrastructure to lead the delivery of Sakatti infrastructure study in alignment with the overall schedule and IDM requirements for the Sakatti Project. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, fostering a zero-harm culture across all operational systems and stakeholder interactions. You will manage multidisciplinary study teams and coordinate with internal specialists, EPCMs, government departments, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery to Anglo American technical standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective leadership, establish robust controls, and drive performance through clear communication and alignment of purpose. Qualifications

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in Infrastructure projects, including the coordination of knowledge sharing across disciplines, managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirements.
  • Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery within Project Management, Construction Management for large projects.
  • Advanced: Devise solutions using a flexible, fit-for-purpose approach by utilising experience, innovation and teamwork and balancing cost, schedule and quality.
  • Advanced: A proven track record in Infrastructure project execution and demonstrated commitment to the successful implementation of the project
Responsibilities
  • Create a safety culture through productive and authorised operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Manage/coordinate the project team of specialists to deliver to Anglo American technical standards and IDM requirements.
  • Manage the project charter, scope, deliverables, budget and schedule
  • Manage key external stakeholders, in addition to providing inputs, e.g. EPCMs, owner team specialists, Government Dept’s, etc
  • Manage and integrate the interface between all stakeholders.
  • Manage multi-discipline study teams during front end loading phases and participate in project assurance reviews at stage gates
  • Manage reporting on project progress and monitor progress versus plan
  • Set-up of required controls to ensure delivery against standards and the objectives as defined in the project charter.
  • Effective leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure effective communication channels between key stakeholders and supporting disciplines to ensure improved integration and alignment of purpose
  • Promotes best practice standards, specifications and processes to establish cohesiveness with the relevant stakeholder practices
  • Ensure that all solutions are aligned with the AA and Country specific Technical Standards
  • Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work-processes.
