    The Project Manager – Substructure Care will be responsible for planning, scoping and procuring design and work packages, contract formation and management, site observations, solving site and design issues, tracking and reporting spend, progress and other project measures, executing works safely. They will take personal responsibility for their assigned works as part of the Transformation programme of works within the Network Readiness team’s remit. The role oversees every stage of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful planning, project execution and leadership.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Project management and governance
  • Resource and stakeholder management
  • Contract and financial management
  • Guide the analysis of data from different inspection equipment and personal (including but not limited to EM80, ATIS, M125) in order to form a view on the geometry condition of the Metros Network
  • Work collaboratively with relevant parties to propose and document a strategy for the geometry intervention with the intention of achieving the required performance of the network
  • Work collaboratively with relevant parties to define thresholds for geometry intervention, proposing a process for the track maintenance team to deliver the strategy
  • Guide the analysis of data from different inspection equipment and personal (including but not limited to structures inspection, M136 ) in order to form a view on the drainage condition of the Metros Network
  • Work collaboratively with relevant parties to propose and document a strategy for the drainage intervention with the intention of achieving the required performance of the network
  • Sponsor and deliver field trials and maintenance for both geometry and drainage on the Metros network
  • Manage, train, coach and mentor engineers who will be delivering field trials and maintenance activities on the network

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record of leading positive project outcomes in complex multi-disciplinary environments
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and reporting, including risk management, design, specification, and production for assigned projects
  • Previous project management in a project management environment and ideally with experience working on complex business programmes and projects across a diverse portfolio including substructure (drainage and geometry) engineering procurement, consultant and contractor management
  • Demonstrable experience reviewing key project documentation and working with teams to deliver quality outputs
  • Financial and resource management, ensuring budget objectives are met and timely escalation taken if and when necessary
  • Exceptional organisational skills in prioritising and managing workloads
  • Continually review work practices, productivity, and cost control throughout the project to maximise the financial performance of project.
  • Oversee systems to continuously assess risks, identify and scope changes and find solutions to minimise adverse effects on cost, timeliness and quality of the project
  • Provide subject matter and technical expertise where required, through active involvement and engagement in the execution of the technical complex aspects of the project
  • Apply excellent relationship building and management to demonstrate project leadership and apply influence and gravitas to ensure desired outcomes are met
  • Liaise and collaborate with Management and Technical Managers keeping them informed on when and how the project is likely to impact on their business
  • Maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring timely communication of project progress and likely impacts
  • Provide authentic and proactive leadership for your team, demonstrating best practice and effective engagement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualification in related discipline
  • Project Management qualifications, PRINCE, PMP

  • Relevant industry and/or project management certifications
