THE OPPORTUNITY

Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) is Australia’s largest and most successful group of pharmaceutical scientists, with over 250 staff and 250 PhD students. Established in 2008, it builds on the pioneering research of the Victorian College of Pharmacy, which developed the Relenza flu treatment. MIPS conducts cutting-edge research in drug discovery, delivery, and development, focusing on therapeutic areas like neuroscience, cancer, immunity, cardiovascular diseases, and global health. It has strong collaborations with industry leaders such as Servier, Takeda, and Lonza, along with partnerships with biotech companies, research institutes, and funding organizations worldwide.
MIPS is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the Australian Primary Care Initiative for Medicine use Optimisation and Safety (APRICOT). The role involves providing expert advice, supporting change initiatives, and ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in line with strategic goals. The Project Manager will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders across various faculties and departments.

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects from initiation to completion, applying project management methodologies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project scope, deliverables, budgets, timelines, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Implementing project deliverables and overseeing change management strategies.
  • Sourcing resources, managing procurement, and negotiating contracts with external providers.
  • Conducting research, providing solutions, and advising senior management on complex issues.
  • Leading and developing a skilled project team, including external consultants and contractors.
  • Managing project budgets effectively.
  • Preparing reports, briefings, and presentations for various audiences.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and supporting networking efforts.
  • Identifying risks, reporting issues, and implementing mitigation strategies.
