PROJECT MANAGER REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is viewed as an asset; however, candidates with 10+ years of relevant experience will also.
  • PMP or P. Eng Certifications considered an asset.
  • Be willing to travel during construction season as required.
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various construction processes.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and able to be insured on the company plan.
  • Strong understanding of road construction practices and specifications preferred. Including grading, base, and paving work.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Ability to manage coordination efforts in construction projects with various parties, such as architects, project engineers, and landscaping installers.
  • Experience with Bid to Win is an asset.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and confidentiality with strong attention to detail.
  • Pre-employment drug screening in effect.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the estimator to understand and assemble project schedules and costs for the purpose of formulating tender and quotation pricing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of road construction projects.
  • Set daily site goals and support the superintendent/foreman in troubleshooting to ensure completion deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Maintains contact and relationships with contractors and internal production team.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of construction materials and equipment.
  • Perform field inspections of projects to determine compliance. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control, safety standards, and contract specifications.
  • Maintain thorough records of all project documentation, including materials estimates, sub-contractor performance, and project completion documentation.
  • Confirm project legal documents are completed and signed.
  • Verify compliance with legislation, company policies, and other statutory requirements.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
