Description MWA Architects is seeking a talented Project Manager/Project Architect to join our Portland transportation design studio, working on projects in California, Oregon and Washington. Our diverse team is dedicated to designing sustainable, resilient, and beautiful transportation and resource recovery/management projects. We work with great clients and consultants, be they engineers, districts, or municipalities, and build lasting relationships through strong project collaboration. We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic, organized, project manager/licensed architect. You will bring attention to detail, the ability to communicate with the design team and clients, and the drive to see large projects through construction. We are looking for an individual who can work across project scales and phases, as MWA is currently in a busy construction phase on multiple projects, while still designing new projects. Your responsibilities: Perform project architect duties including, but not limited to, code review, coordination with production team and BIM Manager, specifications editing, Perform project management scope, schedule and budget planning, management and control tasks on small to large scope projects. Assist in selection of A/E consultants for full integration of engineering systems and other scopes of work. Provide direction for all primary aspects of a project to project team. Review primary aspects of project prior to distribution outside of office at all phases of project. Coordinate design with project team. Edit and execute contracts with Owner and A/E consultants. Manage workflow and staff needs through course of project. Update workload planning and coordinate with finance Controller and other Project Managers. Communicate with Owner or Owner's Representative on project and critical design aspects of work. Determine if required and execute Additional Services Requests with Owner as may be needed. Review and approve monthly invoicing on projects. Oversee and direct Architects and Designers working on the project. Share technical knowledge and skills learned. Identify processes/procedures to improve firm performance and coordinate with firmwide initiatives. Maintain ongoing relationships with existing clients. Participate in project interviews. Provide mentorship for current staff. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program. Knowledgeable and experienced in construction administration on Type I – Type V construction. At least eight years of experience within a small to medium-sized firm/studio environment with at least two years of experience in highly technical project types such as industrial, administration offices, control rooms, laboratories, health care, maintenance facilities, public works, or transportation facilities. Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office MS Project, MasterSpec required; SketchUp, and related modeling software a plus. Excellent communicator verbally and in writing. Ability to collaborate with Owner on multiple project delivery methods. Understanding of various materials and methods of construction. Ability to work in person in MWA’s Portland office. We are currently on a hybrid work schedule, working 3 days/week in the office. We prefer to find someone who is: Licensed in Oregon or Washington as Architect required. California is also desirable. MWA can assist with NCARB and reciprocity. Experienced in design conceptualization and communication. Experienced in managing and coaching/mentoring other team members. Experienced in sustainable and resilient design; LEED, JUST, Living Building, or other green accreditation a plus. We strive for and are expected to deliver net-zero facilities.
