As a Project Manager in the Nuclear Power Group, you will have the opportunity to manage project(s) consisting of engineers, designers, controls and scheduling professionals involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant modifications. The position will involve coordinating with multiple internal and external departments to manage the life cycle of project execution. This manager position will also provide the opportunity to lead efforts in growing a nuclear power team in Sargent & Lundy’s new Minneapolis, MN office. As a Nuclear Project Manager, you will be responsible to:

  • Work on diverse projects for various clients.
  • Support and overview all design and project aspects of multidisciplinary nuclear power team.
  • Guide engineers and designers in engineering design efforts, including providing guidance with the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of engineering work.
  • Oversee staff development, work delegation, and engagement. Mentor and coach team members.
  • Manage external relationships with engineering consultants and contractors, and/or joint venture relationships.
  • Execute projects by coordinating resources across disciplines, guiding engineers and designers through all phases of engineering design, and ensuring accountability within the project team.
  • Monitor and manage project performance, including safety, schedule, budget, reporting, and client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and control construction risk.
  • Manage scope changes.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats.
  • Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations, develop specifications, and collaborate with designers for drawing development.
  • Analyze issues and provide solutions to improve results.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely design completion.
  • Ability to adhere and support Corporate policies, procedures and comply with required standards.
  • Occasionally travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
