Project Manager – Plastic Packaging Tooling

The successful candidate will be joining our team at our newly built state-of-the-art facility in North Waterloo.
Responsibilities:

Project focus and coordinating include:·Thermoformed plastic tooling for the food, consumer goods, medical industry include: trim tools, molds, stackers, prototyping tooling

  • Responsible for the management and success of multiple projects simultaneously (initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing)
  • Working with sales, quotations, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing staff as required for successful project delivery
  • Communicate with customers and vendors; technical details and requirements, delivery status (timelines), quality objectives, etc.
  • Schedule milestone meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify risks and roadblocks to the successful completion of projects and work with management to resolve
  • Participate in weekly production meetings to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Complete and maintain project documentation
  • Coordinate outsourcing requirements based on internal resource capacity constraints (design, manufacturing etc.)
  • Complete close-out reports and job analysis
  • Document and follow up on customer objections if/when they arise
  • Maintain good relations with all customers as the internal ODC contact
  • Communicate and maintain good rapport with all staff members
  • Develop an understanding of ODC products and services to be better able to answer customer inquiries and become a product champion for ODC tooling
  • Additional duties as assigned or required
  • Must be able to travel in North America

Qualifications:

  • Project coordinator/management experience from a manufacturing industry
  • A technical background with the ability to decipher detailed mechanical drawings
  • Excellent customer service, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Project)
  • Must be willing to learn and use software packages for project and data management (Navision, SmarTeam, etc.)
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work with moderate supervision in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and shift priorities and timeframes

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar technical Project coordinator/management role (interacting with external customers)
  • An excellent command of the English language as well as written skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel within North America
  • Periodically respond to emergency customer impacting situations after hours
