JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager (PM) for Construction leads infrastructure projects for Water & Sewer. This role involves estimating, budgets, and ensuring construction meets City standards for quality, timelines, and costs. The PM anticipates challenges, monitors pricing and material availability, and makes decisions to minimize impacts on project costs.
Responsibilities include generating leads and capturing job opportunities for the business with a focus on commercial and condo work, conducting field investigations to ensure efficiency in time spent, preparing detailed project plans from pre to post project expectations, and collaborating with contractors, teams, and the public.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience & Knowledge:
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driving record. (or working towards one)
  • General understanding of utilities infrastructure and water/sewer rehabilitation.
  • 1+ years of experience with MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Proven experience in construction management or relevant certification.
  • Core Skills & Abilities:
  • Expertise in construction processes, materials, and cost tracking.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve construction challenges.
  • Skilled in contract preparation, budgeting, and project documentation.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills to inspire trust and teamwork.
  • Strong knowledge of Safety protocols

Responsibilities
  • Project Management & Oversight:
  • Manage project schedules, cost tracking, and detailed project plans.
  • Control timelines and budgets for water, wastewater, non-potable, and facility projects.
  • Ensure proper invoicing, contractor cost sourcing, and permit processing.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Partner with site leads to review work quality and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Facilitate preparation of project documentation and contracts.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making:
  • Proactively address project issues by assessing urgency, risks, and impacts.
  • Negotiate project scope changes and compare plans to identify potential problems.
  • Develop and propose solutions to mitigate project risks.
  • Leadership & Communication:
  • Inspire accountability and efficiency without direct authority over teams.
  • Maintain a calm, motivating presence on job sites to navigate challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and leadership.
