Shalom Manor & Gardens currently operates a long-term care and retirement home in Grimsby, Ontario and are expanding to Hamilton, Ontario. The Hamilton Campus of Care, located at Upper Wellington Street and Stone Church Road, will include 188 long-term care beds and 72 assisted living units. It has been under construction since December 2023, with an anticipated opening in Spring 2027. To assist with the timely completion of our campus, we are seeking a Project Manager. The Project Manager will be expected to work with the General Contractor and Prime Consultant teams, as well as our staff to create a project timeline, manage various workstreams and ensure timely, quality and budgeted completion of the project.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in large, multi-disciplined commercial construction mandatory; experience in the construction of healthcare facilities a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-trade construction methodologies and procedures.
  • Experience with MS Project, Word and Excel.
  • Specific experience with the InEight (or similar) digital construction document management environment would be beneficial.
  • Formal project management training desired.

Responsibilities
  • Create a work breakdown structure and project schedule in MS Project in conjunction with the Project Director and various project team members.
  • Maintain and update the MS Project schedule on a regular basis with a focus on the critical path and provide comprehensive monthly progress updates to the Shalom team and Board of Directors.
  • Create, maintain and manage a project risk registry and stakeholder registry.
  • Work with the General Contractor, Prime Consultant and Shalom Project Director in overseeing and coordinating construction-related communication and deadlines.
  • Manage the procurement, delivering, expediting and installation of owner-managed items (i.e. computer networks, nurse call system, furniture, appliances, etc.) and the General Contractor, and ensure major components have been received, installed and tested on time by both the vendor and Shalom staff.
  • Working with the General Contractor and Prime Consultant, manage the flow of RFI’s, SI’s and RFCO’s (questions, suggestions and changes).
  • Maintain electronic files pertaining to the project.
  • Attend OAC and Building Committee meetings and job meetings on site as required, provide feedback and advice on project risks.
  • Complete owner tasks assigned in MS Project and meeting minutes.
  • Monitor project cost controls, including contingency budgets, and communicate with the Project Director if items arise that may impact the project.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members and corporate ownership.
